SPECIALS IN MY DISTRICT

 Located in the Hambantota district bordering the southern province. It is a temperate district the tolerates humid intermediate temperate to dry climates. It is unique for the environment as well as for various reasons.

   1. MATTALA RAJAPAKSA  AIRPORT

Mattala Rajapaksa Airport is the second international airport in Sri Lanka. It is opened on 18 March 2013. It has all the amenities of a ten-tier airport according to international calculations. It covers an area of about eight hundred hectares the administrative tower that displays its identity is unique. 

  

 2. RUHUNU MAGAMPURA INTERNATIONAL PORT

The Hambantota international port is a deep water port in Sri Lanka. It was opened on 18 November 2010 and is Sri Lanka's second-largest port. Hambantota port project is one of the four ports being developed in Sri Lanka to boost the country's economy and enhance trade. Hambantota is dose to the Asian and European international shipping routes the Suez canal and the strait of Malacca.

  3. DRY ZONE BOTANIC GARDEN 

This is located in Mirijiwela in the Hambantota district. it is spread over an area of 300 acres. its wet-dry intermediate zone is home to many rare plants. the uniqueness of the rarest plants in the arid climate. there is also a rare of six acres.

  4. SOUTH ASIA'S LARGEST BIRD PARADISE

This bird park is located close to the city of Hambantota and is a wonderful bird sanctuary. The uniqueness of this place is that it is home to a number of native and exotic bird species. about 425 species of bird can be seen here. It is also known as a bird breeding center.

  5. REDIYAGAMA SAFELY PARK

This is a lovely park where visitors can safely enjoy while the animals love freely, there are 4 zones for lions, elephants, tigers, and vegans. animals can be seen closely the visit entrance charge is inclusive of the ride in a comfortable bus visitors also have the facility of organizing safari jeep.

Hambantota district is the only district in Sri Lanka that has everything. I am very lucky to have been born in this district
