DRY ZONE BOTANIC GARDEN

 This is located in mirijawila in the Hambantota district. It is located facing the Colombo-katharagama main road. It is spread over an area of 300 acres. the uniqueness of this place is that you can see a lot of plants endemic to the dry zone. in addition, wet intermediate zone plants can be seen here. the park has some unique features that have made it a tourist attraction

  

 1 . MALITHAN TREE TUNNEL

It is so named because it is a tunnel coved with malithan trees planted on both sides of the access road.

   2. BULU ROAD

On both sides of this road whole plants of very rare and ayurvedic value have been planted.

  3. CACTUS GARDEN

It can be called a plant endemic to the dry zone. About 300 different species of cactus can be found including exotic species.

   4. WILLOW ROAD

This is known as the longest willow road in South Asia. It is length is about one and half kilometers. Hambantota is an area with high winds and there fore these willow trees have been planted as barriers of the wind resistance here

  5. MEDICINAL GARDEN 

It is spread over an area of 6 acres and many rare herds can be found in the garden. About 90% of the planted that are endemic to the dry zone can be found here
